Football and Politics

Ok, here we are, the Monday after the playoffs and all people are talking about is how the Falcons pulled it out in the last seconds of the game. Or they are talking about the tweet Tebow's brother sent out about "am I the only one happy that Denver lost?" big whoop.
In the mean time, gas is still above $3.25 a gallon, a lot more in some places and the national debt is growing faster than ever. The president is on the radio and tv today trying to blame the republicans again for all the problems wrong in the world. Never mind the fact, the democrats have had the White house and the Senate for the past four years.
The politicians continue with the same ole stuff, blame each other for everything. They never stand up and just say, "I'm sorry we miscalculated, we are going to do what ever we can to fix it." There is just to many people in Washington trying to protect the paycheck that is four times the median wage in the US. Football players at least go out and give 100% for their money, and we get to see what they do in the light of day. Where the politician hides in the back room making deals, runs to blame the other guy and refuses to answer a question honestly. Remember this, "we have to pass the bill to find out what's in it'." How well would that work anywhere else?
How did we ever get to the point where $3.00 a gallon a gas seems normal. When Blame it on Bush left office, the gas price was down to $1.85 in most places. Obama promised to do something to curb the US taste for oil, go green, well all he did was take more spending money from the working class to survive. We have grown so use to this, that when the gas comes down to $3.10 or $3.05 people rush to the station like this is incredible, buy it now before it goes back up. It all a matter of conditioning. Just like a town expects a team to loose or win, if something happens out of the ordinary, there is an excitement or let down. People have seem to lost this excitement with things that matter.
Were I am going with this? This is the new world, the world where no one cares anymore about Washington is doing, political talk radio is dying and people are throwing up there hands and saying you win, we will do what we have to do to get by. They turn to sports, to TV, to whatever to keep from thinking about the things that really matter. For that point, don't think most people don't even know what really matters anymore. They know that gas prices are way to high, they don't know why, but they see the price. They know it cost more at the grocery store and at the pharmacy, but they don't know why, but they pay the price, because that is just what it cost.
The press is quick to cover the school shootings and people are outraged that a bunch of kids they don't know were killed. But these same people are just as outraged when an official at the stadium makes a bad call and it their team looses. The sad part about this is, they will stay more pissed off at the ref, than the fact the same government that promises to do something about the school shooting is the same government that failed to protect it's own people at the embassy in Benghazi. They don't see the same outrage when, our dollar gets weaker and weaker around the world and that China and Russia arn't scared to stand up to our president, just like Baltimore wasn't scared to stand up to Peyton Manning. We keep playing this way and it will probably come down to overtime and sudden death takes on an entire new meaning.
So here we are, Football playoff season, the tax season is coming and the the people will want their refunds. Fans of the ball games of the ones that lost, walk around depressed saying maybe next year, in the mean time we all loose at the tax office and never look for a better season next year.
Think things will ever change? Not unless we fire the head coach (Obama) his assistants (Biden, Reid and Pelosi) and get rid of the entire staff (senate and congress) and go for better picks in the upcoming draft.
Good luck to us all on a better season next year.

Debt limit Budget Deal or No Deal

The president and the speaker continue to battle over the debt limit increase, time to work something out is now. The speaker is wanting any increase in spending tied to budget cuts and the president and the democrats are still pushing for tax increases.
Funny, during the campaing seems that the candiate Obama wasn't quite as vocal about rasing taxes but the president can't seem to find a way to quit spending so now he needs more money. The democrats thirst for the American dollar seem to grow more daily. If the president was really more interested in the middle class and the poor he would realize that every time you tax the people that create jobs and wealth the less you help the job prospects.
The speaker of the house, John (I'm not caving in) Boehner, seems to have the support of the majority of Americans right now, with the, don't spend what you don't have approach. It seems pretty simple, if you are going to spend money, don't borrow what you don't have, when the whole argument right now is that we have so much debt that we have to increase the limit just to allow for interest payments.
Stay tuned, we need leadership and statemanship, not a spending junkie looking for his next fix.

Will The Elections Really Get Us What We Want

Ok, here we are just a few days away from election day. The common consensus is that the Republicans will gain control of congress and a slim chance at the senate. If the GOP does regain control of the congress, what will it really mean. Nothing, unless we stay as active after the election as we have been during the run up to it. The problem is most people will think, "oh boy! we won!" and just think that the people that we elected will do what we elected them to do.
What will happen if we don't watch them closely, is that will get sucked into the Washington power play and forget what got them there. Like in the past, they will talk loud at first about what they are going to do, then give in to compromise and never accomplish what they were sent there for. Like in the past they will think if they don't go along with the opposition party that somehow people will think that they are obstructing the congress's work. They will waffle back and forth, say we really we wanted to do something, please if we just had more power we could do it right. They will continue to ask you to give them a second chance, just as  the democrats are doing right now.
So, remember just because if the GOP wins next week, doesn't mean the fight is over. We must continue to apply pressure to our elected officials to the results we want. We must not back off, we must not be mislead by slick talking politicians telling us that "we had to do it that way" when they shove the next big program down our throat, like Obama, Reid and Pelosi did with the Health Care Bill.
A lot of hard decisions lie ahead for the new congress and they must make the right choice for our future, our kids future and the freedom that this great country was founded on.
Keep your voices loud and demand from the congress that they listen to us this time.

The Tale of Two Women, Palin vs Michelle Obama

By, Alaskan Fisherman.

As posted in comments on Greta's article referencing the MOVEON ad about Sarah Palin.

The last 45 of my 66 years I’ve spent in a commercial fishing town in Alaska. I understand Alaska politics but never understood national politics well until this last year.  Here's the breaking point: Neither side of the Palin controversy gets it.   It's not about persona, style, rhetoric, it's about doing things.   Even Palin supporters never mention the things that I'm about to mention here.

1. Democrats forget when Palin was the Darling of the Democrats, because as soon as Palin took the Governor's office away from a fellow Republican and tough SOB, Frank Murkowski, she tore into the Republican's "Corrupt Bastards Club” (CBC) and sent them packing.  Many of them are now residing in State housing and wearing orange jump suits.  The Democrats reacted by skipping around the yard, throwing confetti and singing, "la la la la" (well, you know how they are).  Name another governor in this country that has ever done anything similar.

2.  Now with the CBC gone, there were fewer Alaskan politicians to protect the huge, giant oil companies here.  So she constructed and enacted a new system of splitting the oil profits called "ACES."   Exxon (the biggest corporation in the world) protested and Sarah told them, "don't let the door hit you in the stern on your way out."  They stayed, and Alaska residents went from being merely wealthy to being filthy rich.  Of course, the other huge international oil companies meekly fell in line.  Again, give me the name of any other governor in the country that has done anything similar.

3. The other thing she did when she walked into the governor's office is she got the list of State requests for federal funding for projects, known as "pork."  She went through the list, took 85% of them and placed them in the "when-hell-freezes-over” stack.  She let locals know that if we need something built, we'll pay  for it ourselves.  Maybe she figured she could use the money she  got from selling the previous governor's jet because it was extravagant.  Maybe she could use the money she saved by dismissing the governor's  cook (remarking that she could cook for her own family), giving back the  State vehicle issued to her, maintaining that she already had a car, and  dismissing her State provided security force (never mentioning - I imagine  - that she's packing heat herself).  I'm still waiting to hear the names of those other governors.

4. Now, even with her much-ridiculed  "gosh and golly" mannerism, she also managed to put together a totally new  approach to getting a natural gas pipeline built which will be the biggest  private construction project in the history of North America .  No one else could do it although they tried.  If that doesn't impress you, then you're trying too hard to be unimpressed while watching her do things like this while baking up a batch of brownies with her other hand.

5. For 30 years, Exxon held a lease to do exploratory drilling at a place called Point Thompson.  They made excuses the entire time why they couldn't start drilling.  In truth they were holding it like an investment.  No governor for 30 years could make them get started.  Then, she told them she was revoking their lease and kicking them out.  They protested and threatened court action.   She shrugged and reminded them that she knew the way to the court house.  Alaska won again.

6. President Obama wants the nation to be on 25% renewable resources for electricity by 2025.  Sarah went to the legislature and submitted her plan for Alaska to be at 50% renewable by 2025.  We are already at 25%.  I can give you more specifics about things done, as opposed to style and persona.   Everybody wants to be cool, sound cool, and look cool.  But that's just a cover-up.
I'm still waiting to hear from liberals the names of other governors who can match what
mine has done in two and a half years.  I won’t be holding my breath.

By the way, she was content to return to AK after the national election and go to work, but the haters wouldn't let her.  Now these adolescent screechers are obviously not scuba divers.  And no one ever told them what happens when you continually jab and pester a barracuda.  Without warning, it will spin around
and tear your face off.  Shoulda known better.

You have just read the truth about Sarah Palin that sends the media, along with the democrat party, into a wild uncontrolled frenzy to discredit her.  I guess they are only interested in skirt chasers, dishonesty, immoral people, liars, womanizers, murderers and bitter ex presidents' wives.

So "You go, Girl."  I only wish the men in Washington had your guts, determination, honesty, and morals.
I rest my case.   Only FOOLS listen to the biased media.

If you've read this far  ......... now open your eyes..........

Are all politician corrupt?

Are the politicians in DC corrupt? What ever happened to honesty and integrity? It seems like every day we read of another scandal in Washington and it doesn't apply to just one party.
I really think that there are probably some pretty good people in government, but they are the ones that you never hear about. The ones that are really trying to do good things that protect the American public are the silent ones in the background that never get any press. They go to DC to find out that its not easy to compete with the Pelosi, Reid, and radical left for change in government that will actually help the people, not burden them.
It seems that the political class that begs for TV coverage, is out there to promote their agenda with half truths and sometimes out right lies. When called out on these misleading statements that resort to name calling and trying anything they can to avoid answering the question.
I don't care which side of the political isle you are on, we the people, just want our elected representatives to be honest with us. If they would just give us the facts and not what they think we want to hear, we could decide for ourselves weather to favor or not a piece of legislation.
As in the Health Care Bill we have be mislead by both sides, the left lies about the cost and other portions of the bill that are just now coming to light. The right refuses to admit there are probably some good thing in the bill as well. It seems that no matter what, it is all just designed to keep the same people in power.
The corrupt politician will seek the spotlight to call attention to themselves in order to spread their word to the naive and the ignorant among us. They depend on the willing of the people to take what they say at face value, without question and the ability to think for themselves.
The problems lies in the fact there is no way to remove these politician other than the ballot box and as long as the people that follow them like sheep, continue to vote for the same people the same people will remain.
We have to educate people to the truth, before we can eliminate the corrupt political climate that exist in today's politics.
We need real people in DC, not career politicians. Once the average man has a voice in DC the climate may change, but until then, special interest and idealist will control the lives of all.
